GOTTA SING! GOTTA DANCE! SHOE AWARD

In 2000, I had the great honor of having a University of Arizona Foundation Endowment created in my name. The Richard T. Hanson Musical Theatre Endowment now funds the Gotta Sing! Gotta Dance! Shoe Award. Each year, graduating Seniors of the BFA Musical Theatre Program are awarded a stipend to purchase new dance shoes in which to begin their professional careers.

For the past fourteen years, over 50 Musical Theatre majors have been able to step out into the world in a new pair of shoes. Recipients of the Gotta Sing! Gotta Dance! Shoe Award are enjoying successful careers as Musical Theatre artists and have appeared on Broadway and in National Tours in The Book of Mormon, Maltida, Chaplin, Rent, Wicked, West Side Story, Sondheim on Sondheim and If/Then.

The generosity of UA Musical Theatre supporters has allowed the Gotta Sing! Gotta Dance! Shoe Award to flourish and ensure that future Musical Theatre graduates will always be able put their best foot forward. The students and I thank you for your loyalty, passion and generosity. Musical Theatre is alive and well at the UA School of Theatre, Film and Television!
